JHG wines are created in the heart of Swellendam on their farm situated on the most southern tip of the Robertson Wine valley along the foothills of the Langeberg Mountains where they produce it in small batches.
Their unique position borders with the dry conditions of the Karoo as well as the cool sea breezes from the Coastal Regions and therefore, the direction of their vineyard planting runs from East to West. The JHG philosophy is to create delicious single-block wines – the smallest production unit for vineyards that may not exceed six hectares per cultivar.
Jan Harmsgat Sauvignon Blanc
This wine is lively and fresh as Sauvignon Blanc should be, without being overly showy or harsh. Flavours of fig, melon and other tropical fruits are ripe, juicy and filled out with some lees-enrichment but also leave a crisp, clean finish. Uncomplicated, satisfying and best enjoyed over the next year.
